Our services
Everyday repairs and careful tailoring, all done here on site. If you can't see what you need below, bring the garment in anyway — most things can be sorted, and we'll tell you straight if they can't.

Hems
Trousers, jeans, skirts and dresses taken up or let down to exactly the right length. We can keep the original hem on jeans so the faded edge stays where it should be, and match the finish on linings, vents and splits. Wear the shoes you'll wear with them and we'll pin it on you.

Shortening & lengthening sleeves
Sleeves adjusted so the cuff sits exactly where it should, whether that's a shirt, a coat or a tailored jacket. Buttons, plackets and linings go back as they were, and jackets can be shortened from the shoulder where the cuff detail matters. It's a small change that makes a jacket look properly yours.

Tapering & taking in
Shirts, trousers, jackets and dresses brought in at the waist, sides, seat or legs for a cleaner line. We take it in gradually and check the balance as we go, so nothing pulls across the shoulders or hips. If a piece is too big everywhere, we'll talk you through what's worth altering and what isn't.

Alterations for delicate fabrics
Velvet, silk, chiffon, lace, satin and beaded pieces altered slowly, with fine needles and carefully matched thread. These fabrics mark easily and show every stitch, so seams are unpicked by hand and pressed gently rather than rushed. Bridal, occasion and vintage pieces are very welcome.

Curtain alterations
Curtains shortened, narrowed or re-hemmed to suit your windows, linings and interlinings included. We'll weight the hem so it hangs straight and keep headings, pleats and tape neat across the pair. Bring your measurements, or the curtains themselves if you'd rather we checked the drop.

Body measuring & made-to-measure
Full measurements taken and written down, then a garment cut and made to fit you rather than a size chart. You'll have a fitting along the way so the shape can be adjusted before anything is finished for good. Ideal if standard sizes never quite work, or you want something particular for an occasion.

Restyling
Give a piece you already love a new shape — necklines, waistlines, sleeves and the overall silhouette reworked. It's a good way to bring an older or inherited garment back into wear, or to update something that's sat unworn at the back of the wardrobe. Tell us how you'd like it to look and we'll tell you what the fabric will allow.

Ironing & pressing
A proper press to finish, at the right heat and with a cloth where the fabric needs protecting. Pressing is what sets a seam — it's the difference between a garment that looks altered and one that looks made that way. Available on its own too, if you'd simply like something sharpened up.

A local seamstress who takes the time to get it right
Stitch Master Ltd is a small alterations and tailoring workshop in Enfield, run by a seamstress who would far rather do one job properly than five in a hurry. Every garment is looked at on you, pinned where it actually needs to sit, and finished by hand wherever a machine won't do the job as well. Everyday repairs and careful tailoring sit side by side on the same bench — school trousers and work shirts one morning, a wedding dress or a winter coat the next.
If something can't be altered without spoiling it, you'll be told before you spend anything, along with a suggestion of what would work instead. There's no charge for a look and a quote, no pressure to go ahead, and no job too small to be worth doing well. Most of all, we'd like you to leave with something you actually want to wear.

Bring in your garment
Pop in during opening hours with the piece and, if it matters to the fit, the shoes or underwear you'll wear with it. There's no need to book and no charge for a look and a quote — plenty of people come in just to ask whether something is worth altering.

We measure & pin
You'll try it on and we'll pin the fit exactly where it needs to sit, checking the balance from every side before anything is cut. Then we agree the price and a collection date, and if several changes are possible we'll tell you which ones will actually make the difference.

Collect your perfect fit
Your garment is altered, pressed and ready to wear straight away. Try it on again before you leave — if anything still needs a final tweak we'd much rather sort it there and then than have you notice it later.

How long do alterations take?
Most everyday alterations — hems, sleeves, taking in — are ready within a few days. Larger jobs such as restyling, made-to-measure or bridal work take longer, and you'll be given a realistic date when you drop the garment in. If you're working to a deadline, say so when you arrive and we'll tell you honestly whether we can meet it.
Do I need an appointment?
No. You're welcome to walk in any time between 9:00 and 18:00, Monday to Saturday. If you'd like to check we can help before making the journey, send a photo on WhatsApp and we'll let you know.
Which fabrics do you work with?
All of them — denim, wool and heavy coating through to silk, satin, chiffon, lace, velvet and beaded fabrics. Delicate and structured pieces are handled differently, with finer needles, hand-finishing and careful pressing, which is why some jobs take a little longer than others.
How much will it cost?
The price depends on the garment, the fabric and how much work is involved, so we quote once we've seen the piece and pinned the fit. You'll always be told the price before any work begins, and there's no charge for looking or for advice.
